Rattan furniture, popular like never before
Furniture in wicked natural materials has been fashioned numerous times over the past century - and is currently experiencing another renaissance. The Danish furniture designer Arne Jacobsen designed, for example. his first piece of furniture in the natural material Rattan, for which he received a silver medal in 1952 at an international Art-Deco fair. The following decades, however, plastic became modern in furniture production, and furniture in natural materials was (for a while) moved out into the conservatory, cottage or colonial garden.
