The Bistro 2-Seater bench was designed by Franco Albini and Franca Helg in the 1950s. The bench is both elegant and rich in detail. The curved details under the seat smoothly turns into an armrest which subtly reveals that there are skilled architects behind the design.
The frame of the Bistro bench is handcrafted in rattan, and the seat is woven with ArtFibre. This combination makes the bench highly comfortable and very durable.
The 2-seater bench is a part of a small bistro-collection which also includes a Bistro Chair and a Bistro Bench without backrest.

This furniture is designed by Franco Albini & Franca Helg. Franco Albini (1905-1977) was an Italian architect and designer, famous for his ability to merge modern minimalistic furniture design with traditional Italian craftmanship. Through his work he obtained three Compasso D’Oro awards, the most prestigious Italian design prize.
From 1951 Franco Albini becomes business partners with Franca Helg (1920-1989), and from this point Franca plays a crucial role in numerous of Franco Albini’s designs. Read more about the Italian duo here.
This furniture is handcrafted in rattan and ArtFibre®. Rattan is often confused with bamboo, but unlike hollow bamboo, rattan is solid and can be bent into all sorts of shapes. The fact that rattan is solid makes rattan furniture very durable and able to last for generations. Read more about rattan here.
ArtFibre®is a unique fibre made of dyed hard-wearing polyethylene which is temperature and UV-resistant. It has a strong structure and can maintain its shape for years on end. ArtFibre® is very flexible and when woven it provides optimal comfort.
MAINTENANCE Due to the rattan frame, the furniture needs to be kept dry, and can only be used outdoor in covered areas. Rattan and Sika-Design ArtFibre® require no maintenance but can be wiped with a lightly dampened cloth.
